I do have to clarify a few things before I answer the question in the title.
This is a different test than ones given at a Medical Doctor's office. When you go to an allergist you usually get a "scratch test" done, or sometimes even a blood test but its usually testing IgE or IgA antibodies, not what we are doing at The Wellness Way. We do run an IgE allergy food test, but its not our main focus, we test 110-154 foods by running an IgG antibody test. What that is looking for are foods that you have sensitivity to, in reality they are allergies, just not the anaphylactic reaction that is usually thought of when you think of allergies.
So what is the big deal? Come to my Inflammation talk and I will tell you what the big deal is.
There are foods that you could be eating that is causing the inflammation or allergic reaction in your body. Some people have more reactions than others, but that doesn't imply the more you have, the more problems there are. For even one food allergy, just think about stubbing your toe(eating bread/wheat) twice a day for a month, or even a week. There will be some irritation there wouldn't it? What if you were bombarding your body with foods that you know to be "healthy" but they are actually causing you to be sick?
Food allergy testing is just the beginning....Most patients don't come into my office for suspected food allergies, they could be having PCOS, Thyroid problems, fatigue, ADHD and many other issues. This is just a test that we use in conjunction with others to give us a better picture to your overall health or lack of health.
My results next time!
